Potable Water – Capotillo District, Dominican Republic
Villages in the Capotillo District of the Dominican Republic do not have a local source of potable water for 3 to 4 months a year. Climate change and poor forest management threaten to exacerbate the issue and extend this period going forward.
Cap a new source of clean water and pipe it 13 km to two new reservoirs; one located in Tres Palmas, the other located in Capotillo.
Implement a reforestation program and educate local citizens on the importance of water management through environmental protection.
Repair and improve the system of pipes and reservoirs that currently serve 10 communities within the affected area.
